PORCH SWINGS©

CHILDHOOD MEMORIES

Swings are made for lovers,

And for ladies growing old.

For men without their partners,

And for children being bold.

My Grandma had a porch swing,

My Sister had one too.

Alone we sat and chattered,

As Sisters often do.

It swayed us when the winds blew,

And is still when things are calm.

The porch swing creeks and clatters,

When small children come along.

I’ll always have a porch swing,

For myself and lover too.

For when we’re alone together,

We’ll stare into each others eyes,

As lovers often do.

With the passing of the ages,

While time creates it’s havoc.

My porch swing will step aside,

As we pursue the hammock.

History will repeat itself,

In twenty years, I’m told.

Our porch swing will be comfort,

When my man and I are old.

So, for now, the lovely swing,

Sways gently in the air.

Its’ time will come for pleasure,

When we’re ready for it’s care.
